PPR Draft Strategy for 2026

In PPR leagues, the fundamental shift is simple: every reception is worth 1 point. That changes player valuations dramatically. A running back catching 70 passes gains 70 bonus points — equivalent to roughly 11 additional touchdowns over a season. This makes pass-catching backs the most valuable commodities in PPR formats.

Early Round Strategy (Rounds 1-4)

Target elite pass-catching RBs early. Christian McCaffrey, Breece Hall, and Bijan Robinson are PPR gold because they produce both on the ground and through the air. In standard leagues, you might debate between a bellcow RB and a dominant WR — in PPR, the pass-catching RB almost always wins that comparison. If you miss on the top RB tier, pivot to high-volume WR1s who see 150+ targets.

Middle Round Value (Rounds 5-10)

This is where PPR creates the biggest advantage. Look for pass-catching RB2s — backs who may not start but catch 4-5 passes per game. They provide a consistent PPR floor even in games where they get minimal rushing yards. Similarly, slot receivers with 100+ targets become reliable WR2/3 options. Tight ends who operate as de facto wide receivers (like George Kittle or Dallas Goedert in high-volume offenses) gain significant value.

Late Round PPR Steals

Third-down backs, pass-catching TEs, and high-target slot WRs are available late in most drafts. These players may have low standard-scoring value but can win you weeks in PPR. Target players with 80+ reception upside — even at reduced yardage totals, the reception bonus makes them valuable.

Using Our PPR Rankings

Our PPR-adjusted rankings incorporate target share data, reception volume projections, and PPR-specific scoring models to rank players by their true PPR value. The "PPR Value" column shows how much each player's value increases compared to standard scoring — positive numbers mean the player is more valuable in PPR, negative means less valuable.

PPR FAQ

PPR (Point Per Reception) awards 1 point per reception, while standard scoring does not. This elevates pass-catching RBs, high-volume slot WRs, and receiving TEs significantly. In PPR, a RB catching 70 passes gains 70 extra points — equivalent to roughly 11 additional touchdowns.
Running backs who catch passes see the biggest boost, followed by slot receivers and pass-catching TEs. Elite downfield WRs benefit less since they score fewer receptions but more yards per catch.
